If wishes were fishes

I wish my back yard were finished....I mean, weed free, vines growing so thick on the back fence that you can't see through it, flowers planted by the fence, the side fence up, a cherry tree planted, another fruit tree (I haven't decided what kind yet), and a sand box and playhouse for the children. Oh, and a rocking bench on the back porch for me! I dream about it. I stare out my windows for hours pretending that thinking about pulling the weeds will make them disappear.
I lazily lounged around the house this morning trying not to move too much because I hurt so much from Zumba last night. The kids went out in the back yard to shuck corn (it's their favorite job). So I went to the window to watch them! Much to my surprise, some kids doing community service were outside pulling my weeds! (on the other side of the fence) I've been meaning to go pull them for a week or two, but haven't done it yet. I'm so glad I waited, because now I don't have too! Yeah! I tried to keep myself concealed since I hadn't combed my hair or put a brazier on, but I stood by the screen door so I could keep an eye and ear on my kids. Addie came to the door and smiled and said, "Mom, one of those boys said hi to me." Then she batted her eyes!!!!! WHAT!!! That girl! She's going to be a handful when she gets older. I heard one of the boys whisper something and then, "she's standing by the door." Dang it, they could see me! Then I just felt stupid, but still I couldn't go out. Then I got a phone call, as I answered the guy said, "she's on the phone." It was kind of creeping me out that they were watching me. Finally I put on my brazier and pulled my hair into a pony tail and went to the door. I told them thanks for doing all my dirty work. They laughed and asked if I wanted them to leave the grape-vine! So I guess they were just trying to get my attention to ask me a question, but what kind of question is that??? Do you want us to rip out the grape-vine you've been trying to grow for 3 years?!! Silly boys. It did inspire me to go pull some more weeds out of my back yard. I am inspired, I just need the motivation to go an do! I keep telling myself it will cool off soon and then it will be easier. That's just a lie to make myself not feel bad for not doing it now!

Saying Goodbye

The summer has come to a close. I guess not weather wise, but summer vacation has come to an end. Everybody is back in school. It's really different to have to send Add to school everyday. She is loving it though. Sunday was Kate's last day with us. We are going to miss having her around. Addie was particularly upset about the whole situation. She got up Sunday morning and asked if it was Sunday. I said yes. She said, "I hate this day." I asked her why and she said, "'Cause it's the day Katie leaves us." She was right. She cried all morning while getting ready for church and Katie wasn't even there, she was at work. When Kate got back from work, she packed up her things and we helped her load up her car. Then Addie became hysterical again! She cried and cried and clung to Katie and wouldn't let her go. Kate cried, I cried, and Addie was beside herself. Addie told Kate she hated her principal because he was making her leave us. We kept trying to tell her Kate would be back for the weekends and we would still see her, but it was no comfort to her.
Kate was trying desperately to make Addie feel better and comfort her. Finally she said, "Addie you are my best friend." Then Leighna in all her glory said, "Oh, shut up and go!" I guess she was done with all the blubbering. No sentiment, that child!

Thanks for staying with us Kate! We loved having you!

Old Mother Hubbard

It's pretty sad when...
My 22 month old son goes to the fridge. I open it up so he can make his selection. He stands there for a minute...then shrugs his shoulders twice and lets out a big sigh!
All I can say is thank goodness its payday! My son may live another day!

Gonna go to school to get some knowledege

It's been a busy week. Buggie started pre-school on Tuesday. I didn't really know she was excited about going because she never said anything about it. I would ask if she was excited, but she would just shrug her shoulders. Until Sunday. On Sunday she came into my room before I was even out of bed and she said, "do I get to go to stool today?" I said, "no, today we go to church." She let out a sigh and said, "after the sacrifice do we get to go to cwass?"

Tuesday just couldn't come fast enough. But it came and she was so excited she was up and dressed at 6:30. She was so thrilled to wear her new outfit from Grandma and Papa. And she looks adorable in it! I just can't believe that she is starting school. It's crazy!

Most of her little friends are in her class, so she is going to have a great time. But I think she's especially excited to be with Livi.

They are musketeers! They tell us all the time! I'm excited for them to be in the same pre-school! It's always great to start a new adventure with your best friend. The kids all had to take their own school box with crayons, scissors, markers, and glue. They are supposed to leave them there so they don't get left or scattered at home, but both Buggie and Livi cried when they thought they had to leave them there, so Ms. Shawna let them take them home. I thought it was pretty cute.

Addie's first day of school was on Wednesday. She is a true Kindergartener now! She has been so excited for school that it has almost been torture. So I'm glad we don't have to wait anymore. I thought I was doing so good on Wednesday. I had it all together. I was turning my oldest daughter over to the school district for 2 1/2 hours everyday. EVERY! DAY! That's a lot of days! But I had it all together....until she walked into the classroom and I was left standing alone in the hallway. I didn't know what to do. I just stood there. I wanted to follow her in, but then I would look stupid. I wanted to peek through the door, but what if the teacher saw me standing there staring. So I just stood there. By the time I got to my car, my eyes were burning, but I was trying so hard not to cry. I kept telling myself it wasn't any different than pre-school, but it is. By the time I got home I couldn't stop the tears, I called my mom which made me cry harder. One day I was her little girl she dropped off at Kindergarten. And then time flew! I walked into my house and Katie laughed at me!
I've entered a new phase of life. It makes me feel every bit of my 30 years. But today Addie went to school, Buggie went to play with Livi, Port took his nap, and Kate headed to work. It was so quiet! I didn't really know what to do with myself. I decided not to waste the precious time cleaning, so I pulled out my book, read a chapter, then took a nice little nap! Buggie came home in the middle of my nap, but she curled up on the couch next to me, and fell right to sleep! So maybe I could get used to the whole school thing! Maybe.

Life is full of Surprises

Sometimes my kids make me little surprises that I just have a hard time being thrilled about. Of course they are super excited because they took the time to make me something special, but the bad mom in me has a hard time not jumping out and getting mad for the mess. I guess it just depends on the day. But I've had a few surprises the past few days, this was yesterdays...

It's a hanging Christmas tree! I'm so glad they told me because I never would have guessed! And they made it special just for me! Luckily I was able to contain bad mom and they were happy that I liked my surprise. Yeah!

My surprise today was even better! I was looking for my brush this morning and pulled open one of my bathroom drawers, it was the wash cloth drawer so I wasn't surprised to find it full of wash cloths, the surprise was that they were all sopping wet!

Prt has discovered the cupboard under the bathroom sink. So the past couple days I get lovely little girly surprises, dis-assembled lying around the house. Just when I think I have them all cleaned up I find another one! The little turkey!

I'm so grateful for all three of my little surprises! They keep me on my toes!

Bare Naked Lady....NOT the kind you're thinking!

This is a Bare Naked Lady. I got this flower from my Grandma Baker about 3 or 4 years ago, but this year is the first that it has ever bloomed. Isn't it beautiful! It makes me miss my Grandma and her flower gardens so much! Seeing it blossom made me feel like she wasn't so far away. And maybe she thinks of me often, too. I miss her.

It is called a Bare Naked Lady because in the spring it starts with leaves, in fact it is all just leaves, they kind of look like the leaves on a daffodil, except more of them. Then after awhile, all the greenery dies and you think your plant is dead, then suddenly out of nowhere a stem shoots up out of the ground and a beautiful flower blooms. No leaves. Bare Naked Lady! I am so happy it bloomed. I thought it might be too hot down here for them. But I guess not!! It makes me happy!

Canteloupe

Guess what! I grew a canteloupe in my garden and today we ate it! It was good! I've never grown a canteloupe before so it was really exciting! I just wish we had more on the vine than just one, oh well, maybe next year we can be successful again!

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words!

Perhaps the sweetest pictures ever!
Sweetest picture #1. Sunday after church I sent Kronk outside. Buggie told me she wanted to go out with him. So out they went. I got busy doing my own thing, and forgot I had even sent them out when my neighbor texted me and said, "How cute is Leighna! We've been watching her out the window, she's so cute!" So I looked out the window, and there she was fast asleep under the tree, with Kronk keeping watch! It was ADORABLE! I love those moments!

Sweetest picture ever #2. My new little niece curled up on her Mommy's bosom! She is so tiny and precious and the sweetest little spirit! It's so fun to see Rie so happy!

Sweetest picture #3. Prt thinks that he is a big boy now and he is feeling left out at bed time when the girls get to go to the same bed and he has to go to his own room, in his lonely little crib! As soon as we have our family prayers, he books it to their room and climbs in their bed! Buggie doesn't appreciate it, because he 'squishes' her. I love how Buggie and Add are holding hands!

Sweetest picture #4. Prt. Yesterday we were in the living room and The Babe said to me, "is there water running? Is the washer running or something? I can hear water." I said, "No. Nothing is running as far as I know." So The Babe went outside, checking all the outside faucets. While he was out I heard, "MOM! .... MOM! .... MOOOM!" So Kate went to the rescue. Needless to say, we found where the water was running! A completely full bath tub of cold water and a bottle of shampoo and Prt!
