The Tooth Fairy

The Tooth Fairy was about to make the switcher-ooh. A dollar for a tooth. But Leighna woke up! So she hid herself in the closet, or was she under the bed??? She just couldn't get caught, so she waited patiently while Leighna grabbed the tooth from under the pillow and ran in to show Me that the Tooth Fairy didn't come. But the Tooth Fairy had had a very long night picking up children's teeth. So she waited, it was still very early in the morning. Then a very disappointed Leighna, put her tooth on the table and layed down on the couch. But the Tooth Fairy couldn't come and get the tooth from the table, she might get caught, so she stayed hidden in the closet. I went in to talk to Leighna and told her she should put the tooth back under the pillow so the Tooth Fairy would know where to find it. She didn't want to get up, so I told her I would put it under her pillow for her. As soon as I left the room the Tooth Fairy must have waited to make sure everyone was being quiet and still so she wouldn't get caught and she grabbed that tooth and was out of here!!!

To which Leighna nonchalantly replied, "Nice story, Mom."

Well, I hope so because otherwise we have a very, very lame and forgetful toothfairy at our house!

Breaking News....

Breaking news at our house! Leighna has her first, real live, loose tooth!!!! Oh, we have been waiting for a long time for this! All of her friends have already lost a mouthful of teeth and poor Leighna is starting to get a little wiggle on her first one! But hey, it's a wiggle. I have had to wiggle it several times already today. (what we do for our children ;-)) It actually really grosses me out, but that's okay. Anyway, she has told me several times tonight, "Feel it mom, it's even looser!" She is so excited. I also found out on our way home from school today, that little Leighna ~ who never wants to get married because she wants to live with me forever ~ has a crush! His name is Kaleb, and my goodness he sounds like a pretty funny guy. She just kept saying, "He is just so funny!" Tonight I was laying on the bed trying to get more details, all I could get was, "He is just so funny! I like to give him heart pumps." (pressing both her hands over her heart and then pumping them :-) just in case you were wondering.) And, my personal favorite... "I like to call him my crush-man!" I asked her if she told him she liked him and she said, "Yes, and he freaked out!" And then she did her little giggle that I just love so much!
It was so cute! My daughter's first crush! I told her to make sure she doesn't kiss him. She asked, "Why, what will happen?" I said, "Your lips will fall off!" Since Adelah has always been a 'lover' and had a little boyfriend since she was born....maybe that's an exaggeration, but not much of one. Anyway, she was always kissing boys when she was in Kindergarten so we had to get drastic, we told her if she kept doing that her lips would fall off. Then one day my kids watched Anastasia, and you know the part where Rasputen is falling apart??? Well, his lips fall off and slide down his beard. All of my kids were like, "Is that what happens when you kiss before you're married?" .... :-) I just want to thank those movie makers because I couldn't have given them a more clear image!!!

P.S. We will re-discuss the kissing thing when they are a little older! ;-) Maybe....

Dear Friends,
It's been a while since I have updated my little blog. I'm sorry for my delay. Life just keeps trudging on, and we just keep trying to keep up. There are just a few items that are note worthy and must be posted, so forgive me if you have heard these stories in person and this blog is a repeat.
So here you go...

I shot my first deer...yep, you heard me, I shot it. All by myself. I didn't gut it or any of that disgusting stuff, naturally...but I'm the one who pulled the trigger. The Babe was so excited. He was jumpin' up and down asking me to pound knuckles with him and had the biggest grin on his face, I think I've ever seen. I was a little bit in shock and was really trying not to cry for taking this beautiful animals life, so I just kinda walked around a little bit. But, we have some meat to put in the freezer for the next year...I'm sure it won't last that long though. For those of you who think I shot Bambi...well, I pretty much did. But you know, the little bucks are the most tender and delicious. And the way I see it, if I shoot little ones, then I don't have to have a big deer head hanging on my wall! Although that would be The Babe's dream come true.

See this, he is almost a two point :-)
It was actually a pretty fun hunt. It was awesome to spend time with my Hubby and my dad doing something that they love! The Babe cooked us up some steaks yesterday, and I have to say, it is probably the best deer I have ever tasted! Yeah me, at least I shot something I can eat!

October of course brings our fun little tradition of Donut Night! The Babe's family used to have donuts every October. Then one day while Mom was making donuts, she got a phone call and found out her dad had Lugaricks (I'm sure that's not spelled right) disease. Since that day, she has not been able to bring herself to make donuts. Which is totally understandable. When I heard that story it broke my heart. So I decided to bring Donut Night back! We have been having Donut Night for the past five or six years and it has been a ton of fun. Every year it gets a little bigger, because we have decided to share this tradition with the people that we love. So friends and family gather and I make a zillion donuts and we drink chocolate milk or plain milk and we eat our little hearts out! Good thing its only once a year! Just to give you an idea, just imagine a donut for each one of these donut holes!!!! It's so much fun and they are so delicious!!! So next October, stop in for a delicious little bite!

And of course October brings Porter's birthday and Halloween. Porter turned 4 years old! I don't know how that happened! He is such a cute little boy and he is growing so fast. Just now as I was sitting down to type up this blog, he was in the other room with Ty. Talking to him and playing with him when suddenly I hear a little sing-song voice say, "What the hell, little buddy!" Just like it was normal!!!!! Oh my. Kids pick up on so much! Guess we are going to have pull out the soap! :-)

Weren't my kids adorable for Halloween...Poor Ty doesn't have a mother with enough ambition to come up with something cute for his first Halloween, he just got to go as the little brother! Porter was Diego, Leighna was Little Bo Peep, and Adelah was Mario! It's fun to see them dress up and have such a good time with it!

And this was Ty while we were trick-or-treating, he was enjoying himself immensely! He didn't know he wasn't dressed up! He has cut two teeth by the way, and he is rolling everywhere. It's not going to be too long before he is crawling around creating tornado-like disasters!

Of course everyone knows that election day was on Tuesday. Well, Addie and Leighna's school had a little election for the kids. I asked Addie who she voted for. Our conversation went like this...

Who did you vote for at school today, Addie?

Mitt Romney.

Oh really? What made you vote for him?

....hesitation, and a look like she was going to get in trouble.....

You're not going to be in trouble, you get to vote for whoever you think is best. I was just wondering what made you vote for Mitt Romney.

Oh..... I voted for him because he's so handsome!

and then we laughed!!!

Adelah's Baptism

My sweet little girl was baptized and became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints last weekend. She was such a beautiful angel! I am so proud of her. Addie is afraid of water, so I know it was really difficult for her to be immersed in the water. As she stood in the font with The Babe, she said, "I'm scared, Daddy." He whispered in her ear and tried to comfort her. It took a few minutes for her to summon the courage, but she did. And when she was ready, she was baptized. When I took her in the bathroom to help her change her clothes, she said, "Mom, I was so scared, but it wasn't so bad." It was such a special experience. The Spirit was so strong. I cried through the entire thing. (which isn't a surprise, but I wasn't the only one!) Adelah was beautiful! It was such a precious experience. I'm so proud of my little girl who has chosen to follow Jesus' example!

8 is Great

I cannot believe my little girl is 8! What happened? Where did the time go??? My precious little baby is growing up so fast! I love her so much. Adelah is a child with a heart of gold. She is so caring and always puts others needs above her own. She is so motherly at this tender young age. Sometimes I think she's a better mother than I am, and she's only 8! Adelah has chosen to be baptized this Saturday. I'm so proud of her. She was feeling very beautiful, as she should, in her new baptism dress!

Her friends and cousins helped her celebrate the special day.

And then, she had a special birthday date with Grandma and Grandpa. What a great and special tradition. My kids love it!

Time Out

Three years ago, Mom bought us tickets for Time Out for Women. It has become one of our most anticipated events of the year. We have so much fun. We shop. We eat delicious food because we like to spoil ourselves on this trip. And we have our vessels filled with the most inspiring speakers! We laugh. All-in-all a perfect weekend with the girls.

We spent the morning on a fantastic shopping spree. Then off to the Cheesecake factory for lunch! I don't even like cheese cake, but they have more than just cheesecake and its divine!

Sara introduced us to sweet corn fritters.....DIVINE!

Chicken Bellagio......DIVINE!!!!
The best part is, its enough for two meals so you get spoiled two times for the price of one!

DESSERT....mmmmm mine was a lemon cello cake DIVINE
White chocolate macadamia nut cheesecake.....pretty tasty for a cheesecake I must say
This one I hear was a little disappointing, but I didn't try it.
(I know I took a lot of pictures of food, but its just that good!)
Now, are you hungry yet?  :-)
Words cannot express how much fun we had, but I think this picture can....
LOVE IT!!!

Like I said, We had SO much fun. I can't wait for next year. Who knows we just might have to go in Kansas City....Now that would be fun! Thanks Mom for this amazing gift!

Sometimes our feelings are best described with the words of a song...

Through the back window
of our '59 wagon
I watched my best friend Jamie
Slippin' further away
I kept on wavin', til I couldn't see her
And through my tears, I asked again,
Why we couldn't stay
Momma whispered softly.
"Time will ease your pain.
Life's about changin'
Nothin' ever stays the same."
And she said, "How can I help you
To say goodbye?"
It's okay to hurt, and it's okay to cry.
Come, let me hold you, and I will try...
How can I help you
To say Goodbye?"

But how do you say goodbye to your best friend/sister/confidant when she is moving halfway across the country? I just don't think I can.

Take a Step Back With Me...

I was looking through some pictures today, and I can't believe I didn't blog about this. I must have lost my mind...
The Babe's Family Get-together.
First off,  there are a few things you should know about my in-laws.
#1 I love my in-laws like my own family. I really don't think of them as 'in-laws' I think of them as my family.
#2 They are incredible awesome people so they are really fun to spend a whole weekend with.
#3 I couldn't ask for a better family to be married into. I am so blessed.
#4 I have the cutest nieces and nephews in the whole world
;-)  ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
#5 Did I mention these people are incredibly awesome!

We had a fun picnic up in the canyon where we used go when we were kids. I haven't been up there for a really long time and it brought back so many fun memories. It is so beautiful and peaceful there. I wish we had a place like that here, but I haven't found one yet.

Cutest picture ever!

 Nail painting party.

Aunt Rie making some awesome light sabers. Uncle Ben offering his moral support.
 Uncle Matt...Superman!
Dad made these awesome cars and trucks for all of the kids...
Then we had a drive-in movie. It was really fun.

Then there was a dance party to the credits after the movie. So much fun!

One day we spent some time at the new splash pad in town...Everyone loved it!

Addie was having fun with her daddy. They were dragging each other around to all the different water features to get each other wet. It was really funny to watch.

This dummy forgot her swimming suit. But I still enjoyed watching everyone.

Back at camp, we had a pinata. We just let the kids have at it with their light sabers. Kate was fearless and jumped right in.
a friendly game of hand and foot.

 The grandkids.
My cute family...who were about to be eaten by a weasel that no one told us about. So glad we are still alive!
I love making memories with my family! Can't wait til next year!
