Happy Birthday Adelah Mae!

There's a first time for everything and today is the first time I didn't get to see my beautiful daughter on her birthday. I didn't bake her a cake and I didn't give her a big hug, and I didn't get to make her a mystery dinner! 

The Babe and I did wake her up with our traditional Disney birthday song over the phone. She couldn't see me dancing...which is the best part of the song. And truth be known, I was laying in my bed kicking my leg in quite rhythmic dancing fashion! I wish she could have seen it! It was epic! 

I just missed her a lot today. 

The best news is, she'll be home tomorrow and we will do all the things! And instead of cake we will have donut holes because I have to make 200 hundred donuts for Quail lake tomorrow, so we will eat the holes! They're the best part anyway! And maybe not all the things...but the most important ones! I'm just super excited to have her home for a few days. There is such an emptiness without her. Ty and Will are excited that she's staying for more than one day. I'm sure Porter and Leighna are too, they just haven't told me. 😜

Corn... Again

Have you ever been so tired you just feel like you're going to collapse? But somehow, you just keep going, making yourself even more tired! That's me today. I'm so bone tired, and I just have so much to do, I just keep pushing. 

The Babe gets credit for the 2 1/2 bags of corn we did today. Mostly he did, because I had RS again today. He was a champion and he never complained, he just kept shucking and boiling and cutting. 

Not small bags of corn either. Big grain bags full of corn! He's my hero! 

Seriously, on Saturday we did pears. Lots of pears! It's harvest season and it's killing me. But I just can't let it pass me by. I'm so grateful for the abundance of food, it sure is a lot of work to take care of it, but it's worth it. I'm grateful my family is willing to help me. Porter and Leighna were a big help with the pears. 

One more bag to go! It's so pretty! 

I found a picture of the pears. I didn't think I had taken any. This a big tub, by the way. It kind of looks like a bowl, but it's like one of those tubs that farmers water their cattle with. I'm rambling, but my point is that it was bigger than it looks in this picture!

I had to get the 2nd half of a root canal this morning. It wasn't very pleasant, but I'm excited for this tooth to stop bothering me. It's been hurting for about 2 years or more. Doc couldn't see any problems with the tooth, so I just kept brushing with Sensodyne. I've been in at least 3 times besides my regular appointments. Finally, it got so bad I couldn't take it anymore, so he decided to take out the old filling and just replace it. When he got into the tooth, he said there was a weird fissure underneath the filling that he couldn't see from any of the x-rays. Long story short...root canal. I'm ready for it to feel better. He also told me today that most people on average have roots that are 18 mm long. Mine was 22 mm. Which is 4 mm longer than average. No wonder that tooth ache was so deep into my jaw! 

After my appointment, The Babe and I tried to make a quick trip to Costco, which is never a quick trip! It was as crowded as usual. It really takes all of the fun out of Costco. 

Will had a football game tonight. I actually got to watch almost the whole game before I had to go to our RS activity. We learned about sour dough bread and preparedness. It was really good. 

It's been a long day and I'm beat, so that's it for now.

The House of the Lord

I just got home from a really long RS meeting! It started at 7 and it's 11:15 now. We had to rearrange a few ministering companionships and of course, if you move one thing all the dominoes fall! It's exhausting and takes so much brain power and in the end, I don't even know if we were making good decisions, we were just trying to finish. I should just climb in bed, but I'm trying to be better at writing. There are so many things I don't want to forget. 

Last Thursday, Porter made his first touchdown! It was so exciting he caught a 20-yard pass in the endzone! He was the only one who made a touchdown that game. They did make a field goal, so their final score was 10 and they lost, but Porter made the touchdown! And my parents got to be there to see it! It was so much fun. I didn't even take a picture or record it because I was too caught up in the moment hoping he would not drop that ball!! 

After the game we went over the St. George Temple open house. We all changed our clothes in the parking lot of the church across the street, which is where the tour begins, so it was packed with people! But we made the switch from our football clothes to our church clothes...all except Porter. I forgot all about getting Porter church clothes. The poor kid had to go through the temple in his football t-shirt and shorts! I grabbed clothes for everyone else, but he just slipped my mind! My bad!

Ty is so cute, he didn't say much through the tour, but when we got outside, he just kept saying 4 months! 4 more months! He's looking forward to being able to go to the temple! Four more months and he gets to go. I'm excited for him! He gave a talk in primary and on Sunday, and I'm so sad I missed it. I went into RS and was going to go listen, but I got completely distracted. My friend Donna is in the primary and she told me he did such a good job. He spoke for 10 minutes! Donna told me the night before that it only needed to be a minute so he could just bare his testimony. I was going to have The Babe help him write it Sunday morning, but he got called into work and I had 2 meetings that morning, so I didn't have any time to help him. I just planned on having him share his testimony and maybe tell them what he loved about the temple. But he talked about 3 parables, the apostles fishing, the wise man and the foolish man, and the good Samaritan. Apparently, he did a really good job! I tried all of Sunday to get him to tell me what he said but all he told me was that he talked about those 3 parables. Sad, I missed it.

The temple is beautiful! The second I stepped through the doors I was emotional and crying. We get our temple back! I'm so excited for that! You don't really realize what a blessing it is to live so close to a temple until it's gone. Yes, we still live close to the Cedar Temple, but it's a small temple and it is nearly impossible to get an appointment in that temple. The Cedar Temple is serving 170 stakes right now, because everything else is closed. Vegas is closed, Manti is closed, St. George is closed. The closest temples from here are Payson and Arizona. Anyway...

It was beautiful! Not what I expected, but I'm not sure I know what I was expecting. It's definitely 1800's style. The staircase is beautiful. I love that and I love the Solemn Assembly room. That room used to have no lights, just a small lamp and old wooden benches, now it is all finished with lighting and bright white everywhere. It's beautiful! 

It's too dark to see anybody in the pictures, but this is my mom and dad and Taya. 

The Babe and I went again the next morning with Jon, Isaac, Landon, and Isaac's girlfriend Zoe. It was just as beautiful the second time! There is a picture of Mount Nebo in one of the offices, and we all loved that! It gave us a little glimpse of home! Can't wait to have our temple back! We won't even be in this temple district. We will be in the new Red Cliffs Temple district, but still. Two temples in the same city! Yay, maybe we can get in a little easier! Can't wait to see the Red Cliffs Temple! 

It's Corn! A Big Lump of Nobs, it has the Juice!

The Babe needed to take some equipment up to Palisades today for work, so I hitched a ride and we took Addie out for lunch. We ate at a little place in Ephraim called Abundance. It was pretty good, they had pickle fries that were delicious! It was so good to see Add. It feels like I haven't seen her for years and it's only been a month. 

She only had an hour before she had to go back to class, so it was a really short visit, but she is coming home this weekend and I'm super excited to have her home for a couple days! 

Leighna played mom for me today. She did all the driving to all the practices! She's a champion and I'm so grateful for her help! 

We stopped by Katie and Allen's corn maze to check out all the fun stuff they have going on and while we were there we got to go pick some corn. I talked Heidi on my way up there and she told me she hoped I wore long sleeves and pants because last year there huge spiders and it was terrifying! I panicked and raided Allen's closet! I found a hat and some long socks to cover my legs. I made The Babe stop at Walmart and buy me a jacket so I could have long sleeves. 

I looked real fabulous, let me tell you! But I didn't get spiders on me!!!

Holly and my Mom met us at Kate's so they could get corn too. We had a fun corn picking party!!

Holly is so fun!!! I love her to pieces! 

Me and my mom are twins! It was fun to get to see her today! I always love it when I get to see my family!

 We had a good but short visit with Katie and Allen and then we headed home! It was a great day, a lot of driving, but it was worth it!

Powderpuff

I finally got my computer back and guess what! It's like brand-new!!!! I'm so excited. I no longer have a pink screen and I am currently blogging happily in my bed! Wahoo!! Apparently, the Costco warranty was effective for more than 90 days! Thank you, Costco! Anyway, it's back and as good as new! I'm so happy about that. Sadly, there was a lot you missed in the meantime. It's been a lot crazy around here. Mostly all football updates, but hey-o, 'tis the season. 

Miss Leighna played in the powderpuff game this year. She practiced hard and came home disappointed because all of the popular girls who hadn't practiced were all talking about playing that night. Luckily the coaches (Senior football players) told the girls that if they didn't practice, they didn't get to play until the 4th quarter. I was shocked and so was Leighna, but she was so happy she got to play on offense the whole game! She was the snapper. It was so fun to watch her play! 

The Babe was out of town, so he missed it. Sadly, he misses the best stuff. 

The powderpuff game is my favorite! It's so much fun. The boys took over the cheerleading and they were actually pretty darn good! I was impressed with how many of those boys could do a standing back flip! It was seriously impressive. They did a really cute halftime show and they were delightful to watch! I don't know why I didn't take any pictures of them. I guess because I didn't know any of the boys. 

It was a fun night and I'm so glad that Leighna decided to play. She doesn't really do a lot of sporty social things, but she had a great time, and it was so fun to watch her!

Tonight I was invited by the Missionaries Elder Smith and Elder Fiame to sit in with them on a lesson. They are teaching a lady who lives in our ward boundaries. I was really nervous about what they would ask me, because I'm not very good at sharing my thoughts and feelings with strangers. They gave a beautiful lesson, I got to testify of the love and compassion our Savior has for his children. I also got to share my testimony of the Book of Mormon. I don't know if any of it really made sense because I was nervous and didn't have anything written in front of me. I am really grateful they asked me to be there. It was a beautiful moment. The Lord has given me a few missionary moments in the past month and they are terrifying, but beautiful. It's something I never thought I could do, but it was a great experience. As long as I have the missionaries there to hold my hand, I think I can do missionary work!!! I'm grateful for the Holy Ghost, I know he was guiding me!

Addie is doing pretty great at Snow. She sounds so happy when I talk to her. I'm grateful that my parents are getting to spend some time with her one on one. I'm excited for them to get to know her better. She is a delight! She had my mom tell Cheyla our favorite childhood story, Little Black Sambo and no one can tell that story like my mom! It's always so funny! They had a good time looking up the meaning of their names in the Urban Dictionary. Addie called and told me all about it. It sounded like they had a great time! I'm so glad about that. I miss her. 

It was Peach Days this last weekend and we did all the peach day things, but we did them all in the rain! 

Porter was in the parade with the football team.

It was rainy and wet. The rain would let up for a little bit and when it did, Will would take the umbrella and turn it upside down so people could throw candy in it. It worked out pretty good in his favor because everyone would try to get their candy to hit the umbrella. It also helped keep it out of the puddles. Then it would start raining again, so we would unload the umbrella into his bag. I should have taken a picture of that but I have not been a good picture taker lately. I need to be better about that!

They both had a haul by the end of the parade!

The Babe had to work most of the weekend, he did stay for the parade and breakfast which was really nice. Aunt Jan came down, it was fun to see her. We had some fun conversations. Mom and Aunt Jan and I went to watch The Hill yesterday, it's a new movie about Ricky Hill, a baseball player. It was really good. I got to watch The Newsies with Sarah because Zach had school classes. Then Aunt Marylou and her family were in town for the weekend too and they invited me to go watch Tarzan and The Hunchback of Notre Dame with them at Tuacahn. Tarzan was on Friday and we made it to intermission and then they cancelled the show because of lightning. On Saturday Diane called and asked me if I could find 3 people besides myself to go so the tickets wouldn't get wasted. Karen, Chrystal, and Amber were my lucky dates! 

Sadly, by intermission it was pouring rain, if you look close, you can see it in this picture! We were all drenched in minutes!

You can't tell by this picture but we're standing in probably 2 inches of water.

 So, we only got half of that show too. But that didn't stop us from having a blast! We drove down Bluff Street looking for something to eat, but it was too late, and everything was closed. So, we went back to the Boulevard and found Iceberg open. We laughed and laughed and had the best night!! It was so much fun!
