The Drive Home

 

Today was the drive home! I got to see all the beautiful landscape that I slept through on the way there. 

It is so beautiful!

 

I was in constant wonder of the land. It's rugged and harsh and so beautiful! 

We came home to pouring rain and I am grateful for every drop! 

 

Arches National Park

Prepare for a picture overload...

Arches was so fascinating! 

 

 

Leighna and Porter really wanted to hike up to the Delicate arch. The map said the hike was difficult with exposure to heights, so we weren't too sure what to expect. Ty decided he could do it and he wanted to see the arch on the license plate, so he jumped out to go with Leighna and Porter. The Babe just had a plantar wart removed off the bottom of his foot and it hasn't healed up yet so he and Will were going to drive over to the look out and do the short hike to see the arch. I was debating. After a horrible nights sleep with body aches and an uncomfortable bed, I still wasn't feeling very good. But I didn't want to go Arches and not see "the arch". So I headed up after the kids. They were probably 10 minutes ahead of me. I couldn't ever catch them, and they only way I could do it was to take it really slow and steady. The kids never saw me until they were on their way back down. 

 

I made it! 

It was a miracle. When the kids saw me on their way back down, they were surprised and they hiked back to the top with me! It was SO worth it!! That arch is truly amazing and so stunning in real life!!!

Porter and Ty went down ahead of Leighna and me. They beat us to the bottom by 30 minutes! By the time I got back to the car I was completely wiped out for the rest of the day. Luckily, we did some of the smaller hikes earlier, because that was it for me. 

We had dinner at Dewey's in Moab and it was really good. 

 

The Babe bought Will a mini lego set at the gift shop. He spent two and half hours putting it together while I slept. When he was finished he was very protective and would hardly let anyone touch it! 

 

Ahh, his little baby racoon! 

 

It did turn out pretty cute! 

All in all a beautiful day and I'm so grateful I felt as good as I did! 

Dead Horse Point

It's spring break for these kiddos!!! 

Addie had her spring break last week, so she wasn't able to go with us. On Monday night 

Leighna got sick and started throwing up. Tuesday morning, the day we were planning to leave, I wasn't feeling so hot, but Leighna was feeling a little better. Leighna has wanted to go to Arches National Park for a while. We debated about cancelling, but decided we could pull through and see what happened. 

 

I threw up a few times on the drive over, but by the time we got to Dead Horse Point, I was feeling good enough to get out and walk around. The views are so stunning! I'm just in awe of the scenery there. It's so beautiful! The Colorado River is 2000 feet below the mesa. (just a tid bit, I thought you might want to know!)

 

 

You know I love watching my kids in moments like these! They melt my heart! 

Porter was trying to find a rock to throw over the edge, but there were only tiny ones. He finally found one that was fairly big. It took 16 seconds for it to hit the ground. 

 

We all had a great time exploring. 

 We loved Dead Horse Point. If you get a chance, don't pass it up.

 

The Babe knows the manager at Dead Horse and he so kindly gave us lodging in a yurt for a couple nights! It was a fun place to stay!
