It's a......

BOY!!!!
We are having another little boy! I was completely surprised. I was convinced it was a girl. But this little fellow will be joining our family in May. Well, he already has, but we won't get to hold him until then. We took the kids with us for the ultrasound, their reactions were pretty cute. Porter said, "that's ours brother?" Leighna said, "Ah, I wanted a girl." And Adelah exclaimed, "Yes, it's a boy we can name him Koston!" Which has been her dream from the beginning, to have a baby brother that she could name after her 'boyfriend'. But needless to say, we are not naming him Koston, so she will be disappointed about that. It was pretty fun to have them there. Everything is looking good and we are most excited about that!

Just call me Lazy

I'm sorry to report that I am the lamest neighbor/friend EVER! I'm offering a very sincere apology this Christmas for my lack of energy and whatever else it takes to make me get some sweets out to all of you awesome people in my life. I truly had good intentions, but no drive behind them, so I apologize. I hope you will forgive me and look forward to some really awesome goody-ness next year! I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
Love me.

Popcorn Trains

Last night for family night, we made our Christmas popcorn train. The kids had a lot of fun decorating their own trains. Once we got it all decorated we picked someone special to take it too. We hope they enjoyed their Christmas train as much as we enjoyed making it!

The finished product....

Well, not for the girls. I thought they were done, but apparently I was very wrong. So you will just have to imagine a lot more frosting and a lot more accessories! They turned out cute though. Adelah decided to give hers to her teacher. Leighna decided she wanted to keep hers so they would have one to eat! This is such a fun tradition.

Good News

I found my purse. It was in the safe at Subway. There is only one person who has the key, so I went at the right time. So all of my rantings about dishonest people...they still stand. JUST BE HONEST PEOPLE! Then we can all be happy.

Happenings at our House

Yesterday I went to get a subway with Porter. He wanted to stay there and eat, so we did, but when we left I forgot my purse. I went to the school and picked up the girls, and then we headed to Cedar City. I got there before I realized what I had done, so I sent The Babe over to see if someone had turned it in...and nothing. No purse. It's gone. Stupid thing is that I made sure I had all of my cards and everything in there before I left. Usually I don't have all of them in the same place, but yesterday, I made sure they were all in there. It's so dumb. I hate dishonest people. Really, can't we just respect other people's property.
It reminds me of a time when I was a kid. I was probably 14 or 15. And my family went on a family vaction to Yellowstone and South Dakota. We stopped at a little park one day to have a picnic. When we were leaving, we were walking to the car. I was a few feet behind my dad and mom. But I looked down on the sidewalk and there was a wad of money. Some people had just walked passed us. I flipped through the money really quickly and I knew it was a couple hundred dollars. So, trying to be the honest person that I am. I asked the couple who just passed us if they happened to drop some money. They said, oh, yes, thanks. And they took the money and basically ran to their car. Simultaniously, my dad was checking his pockets and looking around on the ground. I was proud of myself for being an honest person, so I said to my dad, "Hey, I just found some money, so I asked those people if it was theirs and they said yes!" My dad kind of looked sick and said, "oh, no! That was our vaction money, there had to have been at least $500 there." I felt sick for the rest of our vaction! Why can't people just be honest!

So on a happier note, Porter has finally decided to go potty. He has made it a couple times in the last two days. I'm just so thrilled that he is finally showing any interest. It has been so frustrating waiting for him to decide to try. But hopefully this time he will get it.

I have yet to put up my Christmas decorations this year. I must be a real humbug. I just haven't had the energy to do it. We should get our Christmas tree tomorrow and maybe that will give me some motivation. It's not feeling to Christmasy around here and I need to change that. I did pull out my favorite Christmas CD, "Mary's Lullaby" and I was enjoying it immensely, but my children turned it off so they could play a game. Maybe they are the humbugs this year.

My nephew KJ had a really bad flu this weekend. On Sunday, Addie sat by his side the entire afternoon to make sure he was ok. So last night she came into my room and said she had a tummy ache. I thought oh, no! here we go. She complained about it for awhile and then she fell asleep. This morning she said it was still bothereing her, so I decided I better not send her to school. So I kept her home today and she is having the time of her life! She's playing and dancing and fixing hot chocolate. She did say, "do think I should take a little rest once in awhile so I can feel better?" Ya I guess so. Since you're supposed to be sick. I think that I've been duped!

Well I better sign off....
Merry Christmas!!!
(just in case I don't get to my blog by then. But I really am trying to be better at updating.)

Grandma's Cranberry Sauce

This, my friends, is my very favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner. I know some of you will think I'm perfectly crazy, but it's true. This is my Grandma Baker's cranberry sauce. It's been at my Thanksgiving dinner table for as long as I can remember, and I just can't have Thanksgiving without it. Maybe since my Grandma is gone now it has a special new meaning, but it has always been a favorite. In fact my family doesn't eat this stuff like any average cranberry sauce, it's not just meant for our turkey, it is it's own side dish as well. Just dish yourself up a bowlful and it's like going home! This year we celebrated Thanksgiving with Jon's family. It was very fun and I especially like when we go around the table and tell each other what we are grateful for. I thought Grandma's cranberry sauce and I would be standing alone at the dinner table because I've brought it before and I'm the only fan. But this year, my children helped me eat a nice big bowl full (before Thanksgiving) and at Thanksgiving Jon's Mom and Dad gave it another try and they liked it this year. They aren't up to the side dish liking yet, but that may come in the future ;-). I tell ya, this stuff will grow on you. It will get in your system and suddenly you won't be able to eat a Thanksgiving dinner without it! But maybe that's just me. I love it! I miss you Grandma, but I feel like a part of you was with me today! And I'm grateful for that!!!

P.S. I'm also grateful for Nick :-) Just so you know!
