Christmas was a little different for us this year, but I think it will be one of our most memorable. All of my sibling were able to go home for Christmas, there are 8 of us, so with all of our family together, there are 25 people. My parents live in a quaint little house of three bedrooms and about 900 sq ft. So needless to say, it's a tight squeeze. So, to provide us with enough room, my dad set up his army tent out in the back yard. We moved the Christmas tree out of the house and put all the Christmas presents out in the tent. This tent even has a wood burning stove, so the temperature stayed pretty nice as long as the fire was going. It was actually quite nice, and provided us some needed space in the house.
The kids had a great time decorating the tree, and the excitement was palpable!
When all the presents were under the tree, it looked pretty exciting. In the words of my niece, Taya, "Wow, am I dreaming??? Somebody pinch me!"
The mistletoe was hung, and everyone had a good time with that!
On Christmas Eve, we all got to open our new PJ's. Porter was so excited, he actually stepped right into the role of being Buzz Lightyear! He was running around the rooom shooting people with his 'lazer' and he said, "I am Buzz Light, I can fly with my eyes closed!" He then found a box and it became his space ship. Uncle Allen was very nice and gave him a few flights around the tent. He was seriously in heaven. I've barely been able to get him out of those pajamas.
Grandma Allred made the girls some very special dolls. I hope they will always remember these dolls because they were made special, so they look like the girls, Addie's has blue eyes and blonde hair and Leighna's has brown eyes with blonde hair with streaks of light brown. I know Grandma spent a lot of time on them, so I hope they will love and appreciate them.
It was one of my very favorite Christmas's! We had such a good time with each other. I don't know how often this will happen, our family is getting so big. But I will always treasure this time together. It was so much fun!
